Angel City is a part of the substantial urban regeneration surrounding the historic train station of Krakow. Composed predominantly of small studio apartments, the project is urban in nature. It covers two urban blocks, and the project underlines the dynamic proportion of the site and our pre-occupation with the manipulation of mass and transparency. Designed in red brick, the external surfaces of the building are perforated by a profusion of openings, curtain walls, terraces and wooden panels. The central garden has been raised to the first floor, enabling a far more extensive retail area and a greater sense of privacy to the residential apartments above. The design of relatively large urban residential developments have a profound influence on their immediate surroundings. In our choices of materiality, scale and proportions, our aim is to offer a contemporary variant upon the surrounding buildings. Our intention is that the newly constructed building will help to complete the surrounding urban fiber while remaining distinct in its architecture.
