This important international competition required the joint participation of both an architectural and promoter team. The proposed site was the turn of the century (20th Century) custom's dock or " Magasins Generaux," that serviced the delivery of goods by barges journeyed along the Seine. The existing building or structure and the brief required the total or partial preservation of the structure. Furthermore, the competition required the development of a mixed-use program that incorporated public functions, as well as, commercial considerations. Our vision for the "Nouvelle Docks de Paris" proposed a contemporary building characterized by its urban generosity, environmental sensibility and radical engagement with the city, Contemporary Art & Culture. It incorporated substantial open spaces along the river, restaurants & cafes, clubs and reception facilities, as well as, contemporary art and design spaces. Urban in its approach, the scheme aimed to re-address the relationship between the Seine and the city by ensuring accessibility, extensive water front public areas and by creating a dynamic visual relationship with the river and the "Rive Droite" of the city. The project was exhibited in a prestigious exhibition of the finalists at the Pavilion d’Arsenal in Paris.
